Apple Intelligence is Apple’s version of artificial intelligence that was announced on Monday at the “Glowtime Event”. It was integrated into its new watch, AirPods and phone products.
The online broadcast of the prerecorded sessions highlighted several features of Apple’s new hardware, including Apple Intelligence that can do everything from diagnose sleep apnea, to address hearing loss, to manage a phone’s massive photo library.
Mark N. Vena (President and principal analyst, ) observed that Apple is trying to embed AI in everything. SmartTech Research Las Vegas, Nevada
He told TechNewsWorld that they did everything necessary. “They upgraded everything, from the watches to the AirPods to the phones and cameras. But, they all focused on AI.
Gene Munster, managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, a venture capital firm in Minneapolis, noted that at the Apple event, there were a lot of details aired — features, pricing, timing.
He told TechNewsWorld that it was all just noise. “It is noise because Apple Intelligence can be viewed as a collection of features.
He declared, “The reality of this is that it is a paradigm shift in how 1.8 billion Apple consumers interact with tech.”
“In 2007” he said, “the iPhone touch screen was disguised by Apple as a feature. But in reality it was the foundation of a paradigm change that saw the phone become a pocket computer.”
He said that Apple Intelligence would put infinite simplicity and intelligence into your pocket. He said that Apple would provide the best version of AI for consumers. He said that Apple is the only company capable of providing a hardware and software service element.
Sleep Apnea app
Apple Watch Series 10 was announced at Apple’s online-event. Apple Watch Series 10 models have slimmer cases, 30% larger displays and aluminum and polished Titanium casings. The watch has an 18-hour power life, is powered by the new S10 SIP and features a sleep apnea function. Models will start at US$399 on Sept. 20, and be available.
Anshel Saga, senior analyst at Moor Insights & StrategyThe firm is based in Austin Texas and provides technology analysis and advisory services.
He told TechNewsWorld that some people might switch from the Ultra to Series 10 because of its larger screen. “Thinner, lighter designs are nice but ultimately I think people want bigger screens on their wrists. It’s more useful. “I believe people prefer the larger display as long it does not affect battery life.”
He added that the new series has a “better viewing angle”. “That is important too because you are not always looking directly at your wrist.”
Apple Watch Series 10 features a wide-angle OLED screen that improves visibility from wider angles. It is also up to 40% brighter when viewed on its side than Series 9.
Tim Bajarin was appointed president of Creative StrategiesA technology advisory firm from San Jose, Calif. praised the new feature for sleep apnea. He told TechNewsWorld that anyone with sleep apnea can suffer serious health issues. It is important to be able to test for sleep disorders during normal sleep patterns.
The doctor will then examine that test, and look at the sleep patterns to see how severe the sleep disorder is.
Apple has also updated the Apple Watch Ultra 2 with a new titanium casing and sapphire crystal front. The models start at $799, and will be released on Sept. 20.
AirPods are now updated
Apple has also updated its AirPods product line. AirPods 4 improved audio quality, AirPods Pro 2 introduced new colors and AirPods Max offered over-the-ear AirPods Max. AirPods Pro was also upgraded. AirPods 4 are $129 with active noise cancellation and $179 without. AirPods Max costs $549. AirPods Pro 2 is $249. All of these will be available on September 20.
AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation are shown from left to right. AirPods Pro 2 is also included. The refreshed AirPods lineup features updated designs for AirPods 4 and new color options for AirPods Max. It also includes integrated hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2.
Vena commented, “I am shocked that Apple has spent so little effort on the AirPods Max.” They haven’t updated those over-the head headphones in a very long time. I’ve had mine for several decades. The only difference was that they switched from the Lightning connector to USB-C.”
Apple enters the hearing health industry with its new AirPods Pro 2 product line. AirPods Pro are not only hearing aids but can also be used to test hearing.
Bajarin argued that “they didn’t spend much time on their ability to perform a hearing exam, but it was a huge deal.”
Many people are aware that they may have some hearing loss but don’t know the extent of it. This new software allows them to perform a hearing test. It’s important to note that, at the moment, to take a hearing test you need to visit a doctor, or go to an audiologist, and do it in person. “Having it on your phone simplifies things,” he said.
The software can turn AirPods Pro in to a hearing aid that is clinically approved, he added. “What is really important to understand — and I think is going to make the AirPods big, big sellers — is that they can take away the stigma behind hearing aids.”
“There are many people who hesitate to use hearing aids, because it indicates that they have a medical condition,” he said. “Well, when you use the AirPods Pro at the level of a hearing aid, no one knows.” The stigma is removed because they think you are listening to music.
He said: “I believe that’s an incredible game-changer.” “I think that alone will encourage many more people check their hearing, and use this solution. It’s much cheaper than the majority of hearing aids available on the market.
Smarter Siri
The iPhone 16 Plus, 16 and 16 are powered by the A18 Pro chip.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are available in black, white and teal.
Sag stated that it was important to developers that A18 be used on all iPhone 16 models. “There is no longer a two-tiered system.” I believe it will help consolidate what features supported and not supported on silicon.”
Bajarin said that “the A18 Pro chip contains the most powerful neural-processing engine ever found in an iPhone.” “It is critical to be able to process data of the kind you need for generative Artificial Intelligence.” “The A18 Pro chips makes the iPhone 16 today’s most powerful artificially intelligent enhanced smartphone.”
“And it makes Siri much smarter. She can not only provide you with data but also analyze that data,” said he. “It allows you to look at your photos and quickly identify all the images you’ve ever taken with your dog or automatically create albums for yourself.”
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is available in four different finishes: black Titanium, natural titanium (white), desert titanium and white titanium.
Siri is smarter than ever, but its impact on the world may not be as great. Thomas Husson is the vice president and chief analyst at Forrester ResearchA market research firm based in Cambridge, Mass.
“However there are clear signs of Siri moving towards becoming a more digital agent, leveraging the information on your device and your personal context to deliver multimodal experiences and taking actions on your behalf,” said he in a TechNewsWorld interview.
The iPhone 16 has received several camera upgrades, including a camera button, a 48MP camera fusion, and four lenses. The iPhone 16 is $799. 16 Plus is $899. 16 Pro is $999. 16 Pro Max costs $1199. The phones will go on sale on September 20.
Apple claims that some large amounts of trade-ins for iPhone 12 and higher can be used to purchase the iPhone 16. Sag stated that Apple is looking for a cycle of upgrades to encourage more users to upgrade their devices.
He added, “I believe they want a strong Apple Intelligence installed basis so they can convince developers that they should build for it.” They’re betting a lot of their success on developers supporting Apple Intelligence in a cohesive and capable manner.
