Copyleaks Study finds AI content is widely available on the Web

A study by the company released on Tuesday shows that AI-generated content grew more than 8,00% since ChatGPT was introduced in 2022. Copyleaks. The study, which spans a period between 2013 and March 2024 found that AI content on internet increased by 8,362% from November 2022 when ChatGPT 3.5 was released to March 20,24.

OpenAI ChatGPT-3, released in June of 2020, saw a modest rise in the number web pages that contained AI content. This changed with the release version 3.5. Copyleaks offers AI-based text analyses and plagiarism services.

“That 1.57% is huge, considering how long AI technology has existed,” Chris Rodgers founder and CEO, CSPTechNewsWorld was told by, a Golden, Colo.-based SEO agency.

Alon Yamin, CEO and cofounder of Copyleaks, said that the surge in AI content was mainly driven by advances in deep learning and natural language processing technologies.

He told TechNewsWorld that “these advancements have made generating high-quality texts easier and faster, enabling AI-models like ChatGPT produce human-like contents efficiently.”

Yamin added, “Additionally, the demand for scalable, cost-effective content across industries such as ecommerce, marketing and media has further pushed the adoption of AI generated content, driving the exponential growth on web.”

AI Content Surge: Industry experts are not surprised

Copyleaks is not a surprise to those who follow technology.

Rob Enderle is the president and principal analyst of the Enderle GroupThe firm is a consulting services company in Bend, Ore.

He told TechNewsWorld, “The tools work reasonably well. They are also relatively easy to understand and use.” “They enable you to create decent, high-quality content faster than before AI tools.

A group in a position of power to overwhelm web pages with AI content immediately recognized its value. Joe Karasin (CMO and founder of Karasin PPCGoogle ads are the specialty of, a Lapeer-based marketing agency.

“This is the reason automated bidding on Google Ads has become so popular,” he said to TechNewsWorld. “Instead of having to do the math and the legwork to be competitive, it operates on a principle of ‘set it and forget it.'”

Brian Prince is the founder and CEO Top AI ToolsThe AI platform, tool and resource in Boca Raton (Florida) agreed. “When businesses and people can find shortcuts that make tasks faster and simpler, they’ll use them,” he said to TechNewsWorld.

As a result, he said that he was not surprised to see brands using AI for content creation as soon as the technology of generative AI had reached a stage where it could be done.

Google Gooses AI Content

Google could have opened the door to AI marketing by changing its position. CSP’s Rodgers says that once Google stated it doesn’t care about how content is created, so long as it meets certain requirements, marketers interpreted this as green light to begin churning AI content.

“People saw they could scale content out very, very fast and that it could replace writers and offset costs,” said he. “So, I am not surprised at how fast it has grown.”

Prince maintained, however, that AI-generated material has a minor role in marketing materials and content for social media. He said, “It is not about using AI for content generation.” “AI helps human writers to organize their thoughts and stimulate creativity. It can help with editing, which results in cleaner and easier to read content.

“For tasks such as social networking, AI can help take a simple concept and slant in an endless number of ways,” he added. Then, humans can personalize and modify it.

“AI also has a unique role for video development”, he said, “democratizing it by simplifying the production of graphics and videos through programs like Synesthesia and Dall-E.”

AI Benefits for Digital Platforms

Copyleaks Yamin said that AI generated content could also make a positive difference to the internet, and other digital platforms. “AI-generated material offers the web several potential benefits,” he said. “It improves user experiences through personalized recommendations, improved search engine results and automated routine tasks such as data analysis and customer support.

He continued, “This efficiency opens up new possibilities for content creation and distribution.” AI content is also a great way to make online content more accessible by translating and adapting it for different audiences.

AI content is not only beneficial, but it can also be harmful. The rapid growth in AI-generated content, fuelled by increased accessibility, has made AI-powered fraud a major concern for the verification industry.

“Deepfake technologies continue to pose a serious threat,” he said. He told TechNewsWorld that advances in AI had made it cheaper and easier for criminals, to create audio, video, and photo manipulations that are incredibly real.

“In North America alone a 1740% rise in deepfakes between 2022 and 2023, with a 10-fold increase worldwide, was detected.” Criminals can now easily create a fake identity or impersonate someone else, leading them to manipulate media, spread misinformation, or disinformation,” Godman Kalaydin said.

Fostering Trust and Accountability

Yamin pointed out that, as AI technology develops, the public needs solutions to provide visibility and reasonable AI regulations.

He said that clear labeling and disclosure should be implemented for improved transparency and accountability of AI-generated material. “Users need to be aware that AI is involved in the content creation process through standard indicators and disclaimers.”

Mark N. Vena is the president and principal analyst at SmartTech Research San Jose, Calif.

TechNewsWorld reported that “promoting industry standards, best practices and transparency in AI content can encourage companies adopt transparent practices voluntarily.” “By implementing this measure, stakeholders can help build a transparent and trust-worthy environment for AI generated content on the internet.”

Yamin said: “The rapid integration of AI generated content into web platforms is a reflection of AI technologies’ transformative power and the urgent need for effective governance. While AI’s rapid adoption highlights its efficiency, it is also a challenge to manage its impact on user trust, accuracy and transparency.
